Delete camera roll directly from iPhone 4?

I've seen the instruction to "tap the trash can," but I only get the trash can to delete individual photos. Is there a "delete all" option?

I'm thinking if you were away from the computer and wanted to delete all or groups of photos.

iPhone 4

iMac 266ghz 24", Mac OS X (10.6.4), also, iBook G4 from Sept. '04, 10.5.8, 1.25 GB ram

There is no "delete all" option or "select all" option.

You can select more than one photo at a time to be deleted followed by selecting Delete.

Touch the Photos button on the home menu, and select "Camera Roll". Once you are viewing the photo thumbnails in the Camera Roll, touch the small arrow at the bottom left of the screen. You can now select the photos you wish to delete by touching them. A red check mark will appear on the selected photos. Touch the "Delete" button at the bottom of the screen.

Interesting. On my iPhone 4, running iOS 4.2.1, the "small arrow" you speak of is actually on the top right of the screen rather than the bottom left, but it is still there.

Yes, a select all or region select in the camera roll for delete should be available and Apple could add it easily enough in software.

I have 1300+ photos and 111 videos to delete from the camera roll and did not want to reset my phone just to accomplish this task.

I just tried holding my finger down on the display while selecting photos to delete and found if you keep the finger down, you can scroll the screen and multiple select photos, just moving the your finger and keeping it on the screen. While not ideal, it is allowing me to delete everything in minutes vs hours or a reset.

Apple please add select all!

Perfect! This is the soultion. I had 1,500 photos on my phone which, being a clepto, I never would delete after importing to iPhoto. Having alll of these is unmanagable and slows backing up the phone for a iOS5 upgrade.

"Image Capture" is standard application in the Application Folder. The only "delete" option I saw as the forbidden circle (red with slash) at the bottom of the screen about 5 icons from the left.

Did the the triack. Thanks again to Admiral Anderision.🙂
