Clear iPhone's Memory? Fresh Restart?
is there anyway to accomplish this?
I have tried 'Hard Resetting' to no avail, any other suggestions?
iPhone 3G 16GB, MacBook Pro 13', iPhone 4 16GB, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

I read from a website that, when you hold down the on/off button an wait for the "Slide to Turn off" pops up. Do not slide hite and hold the home button till it go back to the home screen. Your apps will still stay in the recently used part but it clears cache/RAM. It did make my IPhone 4s work smoother. And also my iPod 4th generation
I want to clear the iPhones memory, not just for safari, but for the whole phone in general.
Is there any way we can just clear the cache of the iPhone? Like in general?

I want it so if you reset the phone the 'cache' is cleared and the apps in the multi tasking bar would be gone once started up again (I know you must press the X on each app in order to successfully close them all) but is there any way we can just clear the cache of the iPhone? Like in general?
"iHeart radio" was not working in the background. That is, the app had to be up front to work on the AT&T or my home wifi network. I wrote a note to iHeart radio support and they suggested a power off/on to "clear the memory".
This suggestion worked, and AppBox Pro showed my iPhone 4's memory falling from 97% to 30-some odd percent after the off/on cycle.
Is there any other way to clear/reset the iPhone 4's iOs 4.3.5 (8L1) operating memory?
I know exactly what you mean. You want to free up the RAM eh?
There are a few apps on the app store which do it but the best by far is iStat. I've forgotten the price but it enables you to clear the 'cache'/RAM on the phone.
Hope this helped!
Regarding iStat from Bjango: it looks like AAPL forced them to turn off the memory reset feature in the last update of the app.
So the quest continues.
Maybe the iPhone 8 will have this feature?
That's a shame! I only know of istat but don't use it anymore because I've turned to doing a non-Apple certified thing. (I had no other option. My iPhone was a gift bought from another country; not well thought out obviously), but things work smooth for me and I have "other ways" of freeing up my RAM.
Maybe, but at the rate their going, the iPhone 8 is another 8 years away! (2 models per number? 3G/3GS, 4/4S).
Anyway, I don't know of any other methods for clearing up RAM except for when jailbroken.
Hope I helped.
To memory/ram, press and hold the power/lock button. After it appears, DO NOT TURN OFF, simply press and hold the home button for 5-6 seconds. It will disappear and you're done!
