Dad deleted my old limewire stuff... am i screwed?

Hi everyone, man am I glad this place is here.

I had downloaded about 900 songs on limewire and then they got deleted when my dad thought the comp was slowing down. I know, that makes little to no sense but whatever, that's besides that point. Now when I go to play songs on itunes it says it can't find the originaland wont play it. I am very worried that if I plug my iPod into my computer that I wont be able to play those songs on it anymore. What will happen?

I was thinking that putting itunes on manual update and just going about things that way would work but I'm not sure how to put it on manual... nor am I sure if it's necessary.

Could someone help me out here?? Thank you so much

I think your dad's concern is that songs you got over LimeWire would be the cause of spyware and/or virus infections (which is not only quite likely; it's almost a certainty).

There are utilities out there for copying MP3s off of your iPod and back to iTunes or elsewhere on your hard drive. Check at

http://ilounge.com or

http://playlistmag.com.

And you may still have a spyware and virus problem to deal with.

Don't get me started on whether those songs you got off LimeWire are legal or not.

Thank you for those links, I may use them.

I am really only concerned with whether or not it will delete the songs off my ipod if I plug it in. I don't really mind that I can't play them off my computer. I just don't want to lose them. So if I plug my iPod in will I still be able to listen to the deleted songs? The names are still in iTunes if it matters.

None of them are viruses, he thought I was filling up available memory. I have a way of dealing with spyware that it doesn't prove to be a problem. I made up a false program and any threats that any of my 4 anti-spyware programs find I modify them to open with the fake program instead of internet explorer. It works VERY well. Also, I'm extremely careful about what I download (i.e. only mpeg and mp3 because so far I haven't found any with viruses interlaced).

Also, I know it's generally not legal, but it's better than coping the sources off itunes and jacking the music directly from there isn't it? 😉
