AHT Error: 4HDD/11/40000004: SATA(0,0)

Hello,

Last Wednesday my MBP crashed when watching some Youtube-Videos.
I tried to restart it and the boot-process took about 15 minutes. So I refreshed my Backup and ran the Diskutility, which said the Drive semmes to be ok.
Every App I wanted to start causes that my MB freesed.

I reinstalled OSX 10.5, everything seemed to be fine, but the upgrade to Snow Leopard is impossible.
And as written in the subject AHT delivered: 4HDD/11/40000004: SATA(0,0)

What does this error mean? Do I have to change my harddisk, is it some kind of Software-Mistake or maybe something on the mainboard is wrong?

Thanks for every help and please excuse my quiet bad English.

MBP 15" 2,66Ghz, Mac OS X (10.5)

Hello Api08- welcome to the Discussion Forums. This is a a "hardware error". More than likely your HD is failing. If you have an extended warranty on your MBP then it would be covered for three years.

You can download DriveGenius and use the diagnostic tests for free, you just can't use repair features. Especially, "surface scan". If your drive has bad blocks you'll need to replace it, otherwise it may be salvageable.
