Can't update apps - 'cannot connect to itunes store'

This is what I've been getting all weekend on my iPhone 4 (4.1).

My Mac's iTunes also has been unable to deliver updates (OSX 10.6.4; iTunes 10.0.1); I can purchase and download iTunes music/videos just fine; but the check for app updates just spins for a bit and returns nothing.

*But my iPad can see and download it's app updates just fine!*

Any hints/suggestions? I've rebooted and logged in/out of my store account but that doesn't seem to fix it. Everything was working fine until this weekend....

Thanks!
Tom

I have exactly the same problem and didn't find any clue yet.

This problem first occurred ten hours ago; Until then everything worked fine but now when I'm checking for updated apps, my iPhone replies with the "+cannot connect to itunes store+" and my Windows based iTunes simply does nothing with no message at'all.

What really happens and why this problem seems to affect only some users but not all?

I am having the same issue. Seems to have stared around the time daylight savings time hit this weekend. Any help is apprechaited.

Basically, i can download free and paid applications from the store but when i go to update, i get "cannot connect to itunes store".

In Itunes, i go to my apps and hit check for updates and get "accessing itunes store" for less then a second, then it stops. No updtes.

Help!

Add another one. Can download new apps fine, but iTunes on my Macbook Pro or iPhone does not even see any new updates (even though I know of several).

If I go to the app, it doesn't even tell me it's installed (as it normally does). Yet if I download (as if buying from scratch), it tells me the usual 'this is a free update, etc, etc.

BTW - I'm in the UK

This is happening to me too, I'm in the UK - (are you in the US?), and when I try to update my apps via the 'app store' on my iPhone itself I get the message 'cannot connect to iTunes store', and when I go into (the latest version of) iTunes, and click 'check for updates' the blue/white striped bar goes across for about one second then just stops, without the message telling me that there are updates, or that there are no updates available.

I really hope that Apple sorts this out soon, or at least acknowledges that there is a problem, when companies don't tell their customers what is really going on it causes all kinds of rumour and conjecture that could be worse than just telling it to us straight.

If any of you folks use an app named Ship Finder please remove it from both iPhone and desktop iTunes and the problem will possibly be fixed.

However it's not the specific app you have to blame. It is Apple who messed up their AppStore servers once again. Read more about my findings on this issue on ShipFinder blog.

Exactly! It's not the specific title, it could happen with any application.
Apple has to do something with their servers. Enough with all delayed and corrupted updates, slow performance and now this!

BTW where are Apple's people? Why they haven't yet responded to ShipFinder developer's phone calls and emails?
