password for my backup

Hi I have recently backedup my iphone because i was getting a new one and now when I try to install the backup onto my new phone itunes asks for a password I did not set a backup password and my Itunes password doesnt work for this please help

it shouldnt ask for a password if the backup wasnt encrypted
