DHCP issue using VPN (PPTP)

Hello,

I have a quite confusing behavior. The dhcp server is setup to answer DHCP requests for PPTP-based VPN. The server's virtual interface for VPN is 172.20.5.125/24. The clients will receive the DHCP offer fine and all clients (Windows, *ix) except Macs work fine. On the Mac, the subnet mask is wrong.

e.g.
Tue Nov 9 12:31:29 2010 : pptp waitinput: Address added. previous interface setting (name: en0, address: 192.168.81.76), current interface setting (name: ppp0, family: PPP, address: 172.20.5.123, subnet: 255.255.0.0, destination: 172.20.5.125).

Why is the Mac using subnet mask for a Class B network when the DHCP is providing the correct subnet mask and I am actually using CIDR? Any way to change this behavior or supplying the correct subnet mask?
