osx 10.5.8 to 10.6.4

osx 10.5.8 to 10.6.4

I have been thinking about upgrading to osx 10.6.4 as my girlfriend just got a brand new macbook with it. I have had mine since 2008 running osx 10.5.8 and never had any problems and runs really smoothly.
I however feel I don"t use my machine to if full potential, just essays, browsing etc but thats more to do with my lack of knowledge of macs.

Would it be worth me updating to snow leopard?
I have tried the 10.6.4 disc but it says it cannot be installed which i presume is because i don't have snow leopard already and the disc is just an update.

You can't use your girlfriend's install disc, it's designed to only work with her machine. You need to pop for the $29 USD retail one.

Given what you say about how you use your machine, I wouldn't bother upgrading at this point. If your machine works fine don't mess with it. Upgrade at the point there is a feature you want or software you need needs a new OS.
