How do i unlock my iphone 3gs

Hi All,

I had an iphone 3gs 32gb from 3 mobile in Australia and it was faulty.
I took it to Apple in Chadstone and they replaced it.
Now how do i unlock the iphone 3gs?
I rang 3 mobile and they said i would have to take it to an Apple store but unsure how true this is.

if your original phone was unlocked then the replacement you received will
be unlocked when you connect that to the itunes. it could take 7-10 days for
unlock request to process after you received your replacement. so connect
after 10 days to your itunes and perform a restore. it will show 'device unlocked' if not then contact your carrier.

original was locked to 3.

contact '3' if they support unlocking on your 'plan' they will
do it for you. unlocking is carrier dependent and is done only with
authorization from carrier networks.
