Web Browsers Displaying Raw Text For ASPX Web Pages
Hi,
I have noticed that all installed web browsers are displaying Active Server Pages (aspx) content as plain text instead of rendering them properly. For example, the page <http://support.toast.net/KB/a78/spf-rules-email-returned-stating-does-not-pass -spf.aspx> is being displayed as raw text instead of being rendered properly.
I loaded up a Windows VM and the page rendered properly. So it appears that my Mac is the issue here. I've tried this page with Firefox 3.6.12, Safari 5.0.2, Camino 2.0.5 and Google Chrome 9.0.572.1, all with the same result.
seriously though - when you say raw text... is that all that the server is sending, if you check the source ?
Cookies seems unlikely over three browsers, but worth checking, as is a new user account.
The content appears different when on the screen. There are a lot of high ASCII characters that appear on the display but are not appearing when transferred via the clipboard. I dumped the cookies for the site, but of course that didn't help. I trying to test other ASP sites, but I first have to find sites to test!
Quit Safari, reboot into safe mode, then reboot normally, relaunch Safari, and see if that fixes the issue. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564 for details. What safe mode does is reset the font databases.
I understand that, but I was unable to boot into safe mode! I ran Applejack in auto mode, and it completed successfully. But the issue still persists. I may try running Applejack in the more intense mode, invoking the AUTO switch.
Or I may try Snow Leopard Cache cleaner (or equivalent).
I cleared the font databases for the user in question using Cocktail. I rebooted and the problem persists. I will continue to seek solutions and hold off on the reinstall from scratch.
Reinstalling isn't reinstalling from scratch. All it does is put down a clean OS and basic Apple apps. Should take less than 20 minutes on the slowest of machines.
It would seem that there is not a MIME definition for .aspx files, as it didn't kmnow how to handle the file type. I don't know offhand if there
should be a MIME type defined for ASP/ASPX, since I'm not authoring this content.
I downloaded the file and the portion of the file that isn't binary data displays properly. The file contained the following:
