Keyboard click volume fluctuation

I've only found a few responses from searches re: this issue, so I'll start my own...

Has anyone experienced the keyboard volume get louder and softer while typing? I'm not covering the speaker, because it happens when the phone is flat on a table. Randomly, while typing a text or e-mail, the keyboard sound drops to almost silent, and then, just as randomly, up to loud.

Obviously, this is a minor issue, but I do like the typing sound option, and it's a bit annoying when it jumps up and down. Thanks.

Yes, I have had that problem on my 3GS and on my 4. As I type, the volume of the typing clicks changes sometimes. Like you I have heard others say it is because the speaker is being covered while being held but that is absolutely not the case. Not sure what causes this but I've learned to just live with it since in my opinion it's just a software glitch.

I am experiencing something like this on my new iPad 2. I can be typing and the keyboard clicks are normal and then all of a sudden, it clicks louder. Seems like it happens when I click on a key on the right side of the keyboard (maybe return or delete of the caps - not quite sure). I' m guessing (there, it just happened when I hit the "s" - so it's not necessarily on the right side of the keyboard) it's a software problem since other people have reported it on their iPhones as well. I hope Apple looks into this and fixes it.

You'll find it has something to do with predictive spelling. I'd guess it also only happens if you've chosen to hear the corrections "spoken aloud".

When the iPhone suggests a word as you type, it temporarily raises the volume so you can hear the word, and then the volume returns to the previous level.

As there is a few seconds lag for the volume to return to its normal level, you hear the key clicks change volume for a short time.

yes he is right about auto corrections and spoken aloud, when the word comes up the iphone says the word and it raises the volume of the keyboard click noticeably louder. Then few seconds later it returns to its normal volume. This only happens if you have the volume all the way up to the max. I think, but im sure spoken aloud is the main problem, you can just turn it off then it will solved your problem.

Ditto to Samt24's 12/2/11 response. It would be nice to see a comment from an Apple rep. The apparent inability to control the volume of the keyboard clicks (other than just turning off the feature) is highly annoying. Notwithstanding that the phone (iPhone 4s) settings allow me to control the volume otherwise with the buttons, the keyboard clicks remain loud even though the ringer is turned way down.

Yesterday I traded in my iPhone 3g for an iPhone 4s. I have had this same problem twice already. All of the sudden, out of nowhere, the keyboard clicks become rediculously loud and the page turning sound is loud too! I talked to a person from Apple Support and actually had them read the entries everyone has been writing here. They told me to go into Settings > Sounds> And then under Ringer and Alerts turn the "Change with Buttons" to OFF. We'll see if this works or not. My phone had already gone back to normal volume by the time I spoke with someone.

Same here... On my new iPh4s. Didn't happen on my 3Gs (Both running OS 5.*)

It seems to happen to me when another sound plays while i'm typing (Like the "Shooop" sound when a text is being sent) That sound gets truncated and the typing then goes spaztic and starts fluctuating up and down. It seems like it's fixed when I am done with the text I am writing and send it. Next text the volume is normal and constant.

But yes, it is annoying.
