can't print on hp colour laserjet 2500l after installing latest OSX 10.6.5
I installed the latest OSX update 10.6.5on Nov 11th and then the update combined on Nov 12th - after both these were installed I am still getting the message "waiting for printer to become available" when trying to print. I can print using and older macbook which doesn't have these updates!
There is an updated HP printer driver software available:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907 Then reset up your printer from System Preferences>Printing & Faxing.
Same here. The reinstallation of HP drivers 2.5.2 did not change anything. I did not use my HP Color Laserjet 2550 between the 2.5.2 update of driver (04/11/2010) and the MacOS 10.6.5 update, so i don't know which one cause the problem.
Having a similar problem with my HP LaserJet 3030. Installed 10.6.5 on Nov 13th and printing stopped working. I've tried: 1) Reverting to 10.6.4 from timemachine backup.; Used Onxy to fix permissions; Reinstalling SL Printer Drivers; Installing HPPrinterDrivers2.5.2; and, bypassing my timecapsule for a direct USB connection.
Nothing has worked. At first the printer was listed as 'offline', now the computer simply is 'Looking for printer...'
I'm at a loss. 10.6.5 was supposed to improve printer reliability and instead I've spent 24 hours trying to undo this 'fix'.
When you install the HP drivers 2.5.2 you need to re-set up your printer. System Preferences>Print & Fax>Select the Printer>Open Print Queue>Printer Setup> Select the updated driver.
Thanks for the suggestion, sig. In the meantime, I had upgraded to 10.6.5 again. The printer appears to be using the updated driver and I've tried all of the alternatives... Print Queue tells me the 'Printer Ready' until I try to print, then the message appear, "Looking for printer..." and then, "Printer offline."
My HP LaserJet 1320 won't print after updating to 10.6.5 system. The printer shows offline, including to another networked printer using system 10.5.
This problem doesn't seem to be application specific - I can't print from anything. I can't add the printer back since it doesn't show up in available printers list.
The printer is hooked into my iMac by a single USB cable.
I've rebooted and turned the printer off and on - nothing helps. I am really in deep trouble as I need to print for Monday morning!!!
Reinstalled drivers - still no ability to see printer. Deleted printer - now no printer shows up when I try to add printer. I've rebooted, shutdown, everything I can think of. Still no HPLaserJet 1320.
Printer now is visible and works. I had the printer running through a Belkin USB hub. I disconnected the printer from the hub and reconnected directly to the iMac. As soon as I did that, the printer mysteriously reappeared.
I may have had previous USB disk connection problems through the same hub. Is there a more robust hub available or perhaps this particular hub is not working properly???
1. Is the hub powered?
2. For what you spend on a good hub you could set up the printer with a wireless print server and not tie up USB slots. (Linksys WPSM54G).
The hub is powered. The thing I don't like about it is that there are no lights - I can't tell what is happening, either with power or signal. It could be that hub power adapter died.
I'm using the hub because I have two scanners, cords for iPhone and a camera always plugged in, etc.
One thing I didn't try was to totally disconnect the USB hub - signal cables and power - then restart it. I wonder if that would have made the printer reappear. BTW, the scanners and a camera connection still work fine on the hub.
Ok. I've reinstalled Mac OS 10.6.4, flushed everything about the HP Update driver, and I'm able to print again, connecting directly to USB port AND by wifi connection with my printer connected to my other computer, with no problem.
I will reinstall first the HP Driver Update 2.5.2, and second Mac Os 10.6.5 to pinpoint the source of the problem.
