need steps to use TERMINAL to enter code to UNLOCK EXTERNAL DRIVE please

When changing the permissions to RW and apply to all enclosed files on my external drive files, a LARGE SILVER LOCK ICON appeared on the drive icon and I cannot access this drive now.

I cannot UNLOCK THE EXTERNAL DRIVE in permissions with my password.

I have read on a few blog articles that I need to go into the TERMINAL APPLICATION as a ROOT USER and type in some code.

sudo chflags -R nouchg "/Volumes/Drive Name"

Although I feel capable to troubleshoot most issues, I could use a walkthrough of the exact steps before I do this.

CAN ANYONE HELP?

Apple Tech Support and the Genius Bar were of no help to me.
I am running 10.5.8 on a 2x3ghz Dual-Core Xeon MacPro.
My external is a GLYPH 1TB GT050Q.
I am the only user.

A1186, Mac OS X (10.5.8), MacPro Xeon Dual Core 3ghz

How do I get to the TERMINAL to enter these 2 codes?
Do I enter them together and then hit enter?

the Terminal.app is located in the Utilities Folder, which is a subdirectory of the Applications Folder.

From the finder: Shift ⌘U, will take you to the folder. Or just drop the following link into your
browser. It will show you the Terminal.app in the Utilities Folder, but will not start it.

file:///Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

Nils provided the location. You copy & paste the first line and hit the return key. When you get the Password: prompt, type your admin password carefully, since nothing displays on the screen, and hit the return key. Copy & paste the second line and hit the return key.
