Repairing library crashes iPhoto. Can one resume from where it left off?
I have an iPhoto Library that looks like it works, except for a section of Recovered photos that have no thumbnails.
I'd like to generate new thumbnails for those (iPhoto shows the full photo when you click on the blank thumbnail area). So I quit iPhoto then double-click the library and hold Cmd-Option down while iPhoto launches, so I get the fix-up tools list.
I've succeeded in several fix-up operations, like permissions and orphaned photos, but iPhoto always crashes if I try to repair the library. It also crashes if I try to import more than a few hundred photos at once.
So, I can't really repair the library until iPhoto Library Manager gets updated to v9--at least I know of no workaround to bypass the iPhoto crashes.
So I'm trying to do what I can, like rebuilding the thumbnails.
However, iPhoto always crashes before generating new thumbnails completes. I get the impression that it starts over from the beginning when I try again, which means it will never finish no matter how many times I restart.
Is there any way to make progress while waiting for a new iPhoto release or the desperately needed iPhoto Library Manager update?
