iTunes no longer checks for App updates

About 2 weeks ago I noticed that when looking at Apps in my library and hitting "Check for Updates" I was never seeing any apps that needed updated but my iPhone and iPad kept getting updates for apps. I watched this and noticed that after hitting Check for Updates in the app library section it flashes "accessing iTunes store..." very very fast. Just to read that I have to hit the update several times. If I click the Get More Apps next to it i go to the app store.

I can search and purchase apps on iTunes. I can look at my iTunes account and redeem gift cards and the help-check for updates works because it found the 10.1 update today and I installed it. Everything seems to work fine in the previous version and 10.1 except checking for app updates. It seems like it can't access the iTunes store here.

Two other computers (kids) in my house with iTunes work. I've disabled norton and it stil doesn't work.

Can anyone help me?

Same prob here... Didn't work late this morn... Updated to latest version. Same thing. When checking for updates direct from my iphone 4, basically same thing. Says it cannot connect to the store. So I'm not sure its itunes or my phone. Havent noticed anyone else complain either. So scratching head here.

Just wanted to add my voice to this as well; I've got the same thing happening. When I click on "Check For Updates" from the app section of iTunes on my Macbook Pro, nothing happens at all; I just figured there were no updates... but when I checked it directly from my iPhone 4, I had a ton of updates available! Something is definitely broken on Apple's end. For me this started happening a day or two before the 10.1 update, so I don't think it's related to the iTunes program itself, but to the update server on Apple's end.

I'm also having a problem with the app updates in iTunes. About two weeks ago on my system, iTunes stopped being able to connect to the store for app updates. I can connect to the iTunes store for all other purposes such as browsing and purchasing apps, and on the Apps tab iTunes even shows the number of updates available - it just no longer can connect to the store to display or download them. I was hoping the updated version would fix it, but no luck.

At least I'm not alone. This issue began for me yesterday (Friday New Zealand time). I've updated to iTunes 10.1.0.54 about an hour ago, and Check for Updates still show no new apps. I've had 4 app updates on my iPad today, and have confirmed that iTunes hasn't simply updated them without telling me. When I click "Check for Updates" I see a very brief message "Accessing the iTunes store" and a progress bar in the usual place. It lasts no more than a second.

Same Problem I have had the problem for about a week. I cannot update on my iphone 4 with 4.1... I et error cannot connect to itunes store. I can buy new app ok. I also have same problem on Mac computer. The bar just flashed but nothing happens when I hit check for updates. I already updated itunes hoping it would address the issue and it did not fix it. I think it is Apple system that is causeing the issue. Hope they fix it.. I think they are delaying the updates due to the ios 4.2 not being ready. They don't want people to update till the ios 4.2 is finalized in case the updates are bad...

I upgraded to iTunes 10.1 last night and synced my iPad later. I got the message asking if I wanted to transfer some programs or updates from my iPad to iTunes, which I said "yes". Now, I notice that when I connect my iPhone 4 and check for updates, I get the message:
"Unable to check for available downloads. An unknown error occurred (3036)."
I had this problem about a year ago and can't remember how I resolved it.
