Q: can't open Word

Just tried to update with 11.6.1 update for Office 2004.
Got the whirly pizza and it had apparently frozen.
Eventually did a forced quit.
Since then have successfully downloaded 11.6.1 update.
But now the plump Word icon in the dock has a ? on it and Word won't open. Documents open in TextEdit instead.
Can I get Word going again???
