Syd,
My wife's iMac with 10.6.6 stopped working with her Epson 2480 Photo scanner. Get the error message "SCANNER reported an error. An error has occurred during scanning" I am trying to use it from the Image Capture App or from the print/fax option in Settings which opens Image Capture. I ran the uninstall program and then reinstalled the ICA 13969 .dmg but get the same error. Not sure what else I can do.
Hi Syd, having the exact same problem with my 3490 Photo Scanner and my iMac, worked fine for months up until today, now getting same error message as Michael, please help!

In response to MichaelAlbany's post please disconnect the scanner. Make sure there is no "EpsonScan" Driver folder and trash then empty the trash - try running the disk cleanup and repair function including repair disk permissions - reboot - reconnect the scanner and retry.
I am also getting the problem (under 10.6.6). I have tried everything mentioned in this post and I still getting the error and can't scan anything (which is getting really annoying). Before I throw this scanner out of the window and buy a Canon or HP scanner, can anyone suggest how to fix this (with exact steps to play safe)?
I have done everything that Syd has recommended. and I still receive the "Scanner reported an error." message. The 277a driver works fine. Reinstalling the ICA driver (epson13969.dmg) does not work. I'm close to getting a scanner that works.
Same problem with my Epson Perfection 2580. Removed then downloaded all new drivers from Epson. Still won't scan. The "hide details trick" does not work for me. Any new news about this problem?
I'm getting the same problem on 10.6.6 and now 10.6.7
It was working, then it broke. Scanner warms up, starts its path across the paper then reports "Scanner Reported an Error" - "An Error Occurred during Scanning"
Ditto! the above comment. I have tried everything. I completely uninstalled all my printers in fact. Ran all OSX updates, currently at 10.6.7. Reinstalled drivers, and continue to get, "scanner reported an error". This is for sure related to updating my OSX version, because the scanner worked just fine w/10.5 installed.
Update. I've done so many things I'm not sure if I'm going to explain the exact order, but somehow I got it working. I think what I did was:
1. Unplugged the USB connection from the computer
2. Removed the Epson Printer from the printer list
3. Uninstalled Epson stuff using: EPSON Scan Uninstaller v1.00

Now, I can only scan with the Epson Scan App. I can't open using the Image Capture app, or Preview App, but at least it will scan with the Epson App. Go fig!
