Using songs from playlist as ringtones

Hi I have recently bought a new iphone 4 and want to use songs from my play list as my ringtones, main and for individuals. On my old Nokia it was a simple task of highlighting the song and assinging as ringtone but I have tried everything on my i phone and this functionality does not seem to be there. For such a state of the art phone I am finding this very frustrating and I don't really want to chuck it through the window just yet.

Can anyone help please...or is this functionality just not available on the phone?

Thanks

The functionality is not included with the iPhone. As with all other iTunes content that is transferred to an iPhone, a ringtone must be available in your iTunes library and transferred to your iPhone. A ringtone can be created manually with iTunes on your computer with a song or music file that does not include DRM protection, and there are a number of 3rd party utilities that provide for doing this automatically with such a song or music file - a ringtone must be 30 seconds or less in length and this way you get to choose which segment of a song or music file will be the ringtone - not create arbitrarily for you.
