slow

How long does an iPad update normally take? It has been at least 45 minutes since the download finished and the only thing that has happened are a couple of the connected/disconnected tones from my computer.

Dell, Windows 7

Thanks, it is still just sitting here with a nice picture of the usb cord and an arrow pointing at a iTunes logo. About every 15 minutes or so my computer beeps, the iPad goes blank for a second then the apple logo appears and a second or so later the nice picture comes back and my computer beeps again. It's now been close to three hours since the download finished. I don't remember if there was a dialogue box or not, I would have expected one too. The battery might be the next problem.

No reboot. But after sitting here for about 3 hours I finally went to bed. 2 hours after that I shut everything down and plugged iPad in to recharge. No battery indication, still just the picture of the usb cable. So here I am trying again. Same indications as last night. I'm overseas right now and probably won't be back in the US for a while. grrrr.

After trying everything I can find online and in the user guide still the only thing I can do is turn iPad on and off. That's it. The only thing that shows is the apple logo followed by the picture of the usb cable pointing to the itunes logo. No home page or any other page. Neither iTunes or my computer recognize it. I can't do a restore/erase/delete or anything else without iTunes. At least I now have the latest iTunes version!
I'm beginning to think I got a corrupted download which means that since my unit is about 10 days out of the 90 day period I get to pay them again.
Anybody know of a way to force a new download of 3.2.2 without iTunes?
And thanks to all who have taken the time to respond.

Success.
In researching the error I found I had done everything suggested except the registry cleaning. I found a free, highly rated one, and cleaned my registry. 1500 bits on a 4 month old computer. go figure. anyway, nothing changed until I went ahead and deleted all the found errors. Plugged iPad back in and woohoo iTunes recognized it. I did have to restore it but all is well again.
Thanks again for all the ideas.
