10.1 refuses to play videos I purchased on iTunes - why?

Updated iTunes to 10.1 Now all of my videos purchase from iTunes won't play back. I can only hear the audio and see a blacked out screen. I have already tried installing iTunes 10.1 twice to no avail. Anyone else with this problem?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.5), iTunes 10.1

I am having the exact same problem. I just posted another thread I think while you were posting this one.

All my other purchased content works fine it is just these darn music videos that are not working. I said this in my other post, but if I to go the files in finder I can play them directly with Quicktime which is kind of strange...

Not that I watch music videos a lot but it sure would be nice to have that working again!

It is seriously annoying.
Can Apple stops becoming Microsoft and relasing uncomplete software?

I really do not understand, I own Apple since the 80's and the main reason was that you could just upgrade without worrying.
Now, this last two months I bought Iphone 4 and being lefty I found myself loosing calls all the time, then iLife 11 destroyed half of my library (thanks Timecapsule! Still I lost hours rebuilding it), my new Imac 27 i5 lost two usbs and now is loosing motherboard after two months, now this morning we wanted to dance with my kids after iTunes 10.1 and.. no videos!!

Luckyly for Apple there is nowhere else to go for alternative, but sooner or later this policy will start to loose credibility...

I'm having a similar problem ever since I download the latest iTunes software. TV Shows and movies I've download from the iTunes store will no longer play in Quicktime. As Quicktime allows you to scroll through a video frame by frame, I prefer playing them through it, rather than in iTunes itself. I don't even get any audio, nothing happens. Quicktime is still able to play .mov and .avi files just fine, only .mv4 files it has trouble with.

Can Quicktime Player play these videos? Did you have the iTunes 10.1 seed that was for iPhone developers on your machine before you upgraded to the iTunes 10.1 GM?

The store support guys should be able to help you (though I know it's frustrating because of the turn around time of email). I suspect that it's a DRM (digital rights management) issue and they should be able to help you get the right files manipulated on your system.

I've been going back and forth with technical support. I have already de-authorized and authorized my machine several times. I've installed and re-installed 10.1. I have trashed the SC Info folder and re-authorized my machine to play iTunes content. None of this has helped! I need to find out how to downgrade to 10.0. This version is still too buggy for me.

I don't think this has anything to do with authorizing the computer - the videos wouldn't play at all if they weren't authorized - and they do play in iTunes if you deselect your other speakers (AirTunes/Airport Express)...and with the additional speakers deselected, iTunes once again recognizes your preferences as to where they should play...

Just noticed the following in my iTunes...

Videos that won't play in iTunes but purchased through iTunes are labeled in the "Info" window as "Kind: Protected." The videos that I purchased from iTunes that WILL play are labeled as "Kind: Purchased." Why are these different if I paid for all of them via iTunes?
