I need to work with MS Office docs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint docs on my iPad. Searching this discussion reveals that I need to have Document to Go Premium. I would like to invite the users sharing your experience/advice in any restrictions that I have to take note before going to this direction. Thanks!
MacBook Air, iMac 27", iPhone 4,
Mac OS X (10.6.5),
iOS 4.1
i personally use Pages/Numbers/Keynote. There are some formatting issues (import/export doesn't always retain formatting), but I tend to do final formatting on a Mac or PC, so the issue doesn't matter much to me. I use keynote occasionally, and find it great for the touch screen, but much more limited than PowerPoint or Keynote on the Mac. I use Numbers and Pages heavily, and other than the issues sometimes holding formatting, everything works with Office. My wife has her expert certification in Word and Excel, and can do most everything from those programs in the iPad versions of Pages and Numbers.
Thanks for your comments. iWork is the first solution raised by Apple when they introduced iPad. However, it is not a good solution as compared with Document to go as per lots of user's experience. If Microsoft has app for iPad, it may be another solution. However, we have not heard any news from Microsoft yet.
iWork has been updated quite a bit since the initial release... I personally have used DocumentsToGo and QuickOffice as well, but I find the interface of the iWork suite much better.
It's also worth considering Office2HD. I find it's interface better than D2G, and also the new version supports Airprint from the upcoming 4.2 iOS release.
Support is good too, unlike D2G.
Thanks for your sharing. I visited Office2HD and it states compatible with 97-2003. What about 2007 and 2010? Does it support file sync? Is Airprint a OS feature, not an application feature?
It's compatible with docx, but they are working on xlsx. Should be an update quite soon I would think.
AirPrint is an OS thing, but apps have got to support it. Office2HD currently does.
I used Doc to Go on my blackberry, so I just bought it for my iPad also. Its worked fine for me, but I have no experience on any of the other suggestions made.
