Thank you! I knew about holding the home & on/off button but in frustration wasn't holding it for very long (only about 1 or 2 seconds)! My iPad worked after holding them for about 11-12 secs. Thanks again. :)
Not only was I upset regarding my IPAD2 but my wife was also. She thought she had broken my IPAD and felt guilty. She even offered to give me her IPAD4 and then I had a brainstorm (well a brain sprinkle). Check the Apple forum. WORKING PERFECTLY. Thanks Apple.

I'M so glad this worked, going to Apple Store during this time of the year is just no fun,
Thanks Apple, I love my iPad
I found that a lot of you pposted thank you's for finding the solution, but no one bothered to tell what that soultion was: So, hold the on/off buton down while holding the Home button down at the same time for a 30 seconds until Apple appears. Hope this helps
Wife freaking out. Got to this site and the recommednation worked! Thanks!!
Same as issue as all the other responders. Thanks for the fix.
Same thing happened to my mini ipad this AM. Haven't had it 2 months yet. It was working fine last night but would not turn on this AM. Checked this post, tried the fix, didn't work for me. Called the Apple store. They told me to do the same thing. Still didn't work. It's snowing today, so I can't drive the 25 miles to get to the store. Any other suggestions?
Has there been an official reason for this to occur? I'm concerned about security and the passwords and credit information that we are providing to the iTunes Store, etc.
My iPad is 1 week old. I still have time to return it.
What does Apple say about this KNOWN issue?
Thanks
DD
This solved my issue, thanks!
This worked for me! I have an Ipad Air that's one month old and this mornng it was totally blank and unresponsive. 10 seconds holding power and home buttons and it started right up. Thanks!
Hi,
My iPad (4th Generation, Warranty expired) Stopped working suddenly. I tried all the steps listed in the discussion: Power + Home Button 10 Secs, also tried to restore through iTunes and then I got 4014 error. I changed USB Cable, USB port even changed the PC (MAC and Window), but it is not turning on. Its not even one and half year completed to this product. I took this iPad to Apple store and service girl out there just saw 4014 error and said I need to replace this thing with another iPad. Thats not worth, so expensive products even dnt last for 2 years. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks

Harsimran....For what it's worth try holding down on the Power & Home button for longer than 10 seconds.
I held it for more like 30+, closed my eyes and was so pleased to see the Apple logo.
THANKS, I was sure it was dead forever. WHEW
Thank you for the awesome advice.... I thought I had done that but not long enough.... Working like a champ now!!!
Ok, home + power does not work for me? My problem appears to be that there is too many running apps on IPad, and it has ran out of charge. The second the apple sign appears when charging, it powers off again. HELP!
Worked like a Charm!!!! Thank You for posting!!
