iPod nano 5th Generation dock compatibility question

Is the 5th generation iPod nano compatible with the the first and second generation iPod nano dock? I'm thinking of buying a refurbished 5th generation iPod nano and I'm not really digging the universal docks they have out. I found some old ones on eBay but just wanted to know if they were compatible.

Unfortunately, the answer is it depends on the dock. For example, my logitech mm50 dock, which works fine with the 2G nano, is not fully compatible with the 4G and 5G nanos. Whichever dock you are interested in, you probably want to check with the manufacturer concerning compatibility issues.
