iPhone 4 handset speaker problems

Hi.

Hope someone can help me.

I have an iPhone4 32GB and I am getting no audio out of the handset speaker. I've had the phone 3 weeks and the fault may have been there since purchase as I've only been using the headset until today.

It works perfectly through the loudspeaker and headset but I get absolutely no audio from the handset speaker during phone calls. I have tried a 'soft reset' and the plug in and unplug idea but both to no luck. When I play MP3's they play through headset when its plugged in and loudspeaker when its not. I have tried using Skype and standard calls.

I have a screen protector but it does not cover the 'foil' bit at all or the front camera.

I'm reluctant to do a hard reset as I have 25GB of data and it'll take forever to resync. I am running iOS 4.1

Thanks for any help

I have the same problem with my 3GS...I cannot hear others when on the phone but they can hear me...but I can hear when using headphones or speaker phone is on. In the voice memos app the same thing happens, I can only hear when on speaker or with headphones. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried the plugging in and out the headset and blowing out dust and trying to clean the headphone jack, but nothing works.

I had THE Same problem because i have my iPhone on THE carkit.
It is à software error.
When someone call you pick it up on THE carkit.
If you get out the car, the sound of the iPhone stay on the headsetmode.
it's simple to reverse the problem.
You let someone call you on your carkit and select in the iphone display iPhone instaed of carkit THE problem is solved. THE externen speaker works aqain.

This must be corrected by Apple but i don't no how to report to.

I have a similar problem with no sound on a new iPhone 4 but headphone works. On another thread someone mentioned the dock connector and mine does seem to be related to that. If I push in the dock connector and then pull it out again, I get audio in the speaker again...for awhile, then it dies again. It has all the symptoms of a combined software and hardware problem. I don't think its a simple switch that knows when the dock connector is in.
