Facebook albums removed! Have to force quit iPhoto
My wife has a Facebook account and this morning uploaded photos from her camera into iPhoto '11. Then she deleted the ones she did not like and edited those she kept. She then highlighted them all. Clicked Share and Facebook and then iPhoto started popping up messages saying that past Facebook albums have been removed. The only way to stop this was to force quit. She has lost about 15 albums.
I restored my whole system from Time Machine and reverted back to iPhoto '09. The Facebook albums are still lost but the rest of the program seems to be running fine.
Can anyone offer any help or advice? Why is this happening?
Thanks.

There is an iPhoto 9.1.1 update available. Is anyone willing to be a guinea pig and test this out to see if it has solved the problem of removing the Facebook albums that we all have been having?
I am with you on this one. The upgrade to '11 left a bitter taste in my mouth. '09 works perfectly fine for what I do. Anyone willing to try the new update?
*Thank you!! This work around really helped out. Now I can upload photos to Fb and all my albums are there and working.*
*I did have to also delete the FB account in iPhoto 11 before the albums would delete. Then I added my FB acct back w new password.*
*Thanks again. It worked. And now I am ready for an Apple update to fix it all.*
*PS. I did install the latest update and so far no other problems...*
I am not sure I understand your post. So you upgraded to iPhoto '11 and all is well? What do you mean you deleted your facebook account? Did you just apply the update or did you do other things first and then the update? I am curious if the update fixed the problem with facebook albums. Can you just clarify regarding the update to iPhoto '11 version 9.1.1. Thanks.
You are so right. I was shocked and surprised that Apple released this upgrade without obviously testing it properly. I too have lost some Facebook Albums & feel pretty angry that I have had to go through all the hassle of reverting to iPhoto 09. To be honest, I will think twice before trying another upgrade until I read some good reviews about it!
My wife came in and was saying the same thing! After reading a few forums I decided to just give it a shot...
THIS WORKS!! All albums are back on both FB and iPhoto
1. Force Quit before deleting individual albums
2. Open iPhoto and go to preferences
3. Under Accounts click on Facebook and delete it (the "-" at the bottom)
4. It will tell you that you'll lose x amount of albums in your iPhoto library...bla bla
5. Click "OK" (now your Facebook gallery will be gone under "Web" in the albums browser...don't freak out.
6. Click on the "+" to recreate/resync your FB album with iPhoto.
7. All the FB albums that are part of your account should repopulate/resync inside iPhoto and your account should reappear under "Web" in the album browser again.
This worked like a charm- Quick and Easy. You think they could handle this with a quick update. For those of you with Flickr accounts, I had to do the same exact thing with Flickr. It tried to delete albums from there too. I had to force quit and then follow your instructions to save those too.
OK, so pezzdog's method above worked? I just want to confirm before I go through this all again. I would like to use iPhoto '11 since I did pay for it. If this method worked, and all FB albums are saved, and my wife will be happy, then I will trust those in this forum and give it a go.
Does the method above mentioned by pezzdog really work? I just had the same problem with albums being emptied on Facebook, but they're still there with no pictures in them, and wouldn't want to risk doing this method and loose the other half of albums that I still have intact on Facebook.
It's been a while since I have checked on this and there have been several updates to iPhoto since. I have still not taken the leap yet to try and upgrade again.
Has this problem regarding losing Facebook albums been solved???
No, this hasn't been resolved. I am having computer issues and the techs had to install all the latest iLife...which I didn't ask for as I had heard about iPhoto11 issues. NOW THIS? I just launched for the first time, Oct 3, 2011 and I was flabbergasted as I watched three "okay" eliminations of Facebook photo albums. No way to stop other than forcequit. And now the consumer - we -are supposed to deal with all this crap vs a proper fix. It is amazing how much time gets sucked up dealing with stuff that doesn't work properly.
I just had this same problem and followed the advice of pezzdog and force quit iPhoto then went in and deleted my FB account once iPhoto was restarted then added the account back and it stopped asking to delete my albums. They are all there. I had to do the same with my Flickr account and it worked like a charm. I agree though that having all of my FB albums listed on the left so I can drag and drop was a great feature that should have been included in iPhoto 11.
