If that's the case, then the answer is because Aperture doesn't support the Pentax camera for tethered shooting.

This is the Kbase article which details which cameras are supported for tethered shooting:

No Pentax cameras are on the list.

It should be pointed out that the data base article states that while those are the only cameras which Apple directly supports but that there are other cameras which are able to be tethered due to their own software and that the photographer should therefore look at the documentation for their camera because it may support tethering and if it does support tethering it may still require certain settings on the camera to enable the feature.
