How do you turn off a wireless keyboard?

After the G5 iMac died, I bought a refurbished Intel 21.5" iMac from Apple. The wireless keyboard that comes with is fine but I prefer my wired USB keyboard with numeric keypad, etc.
So I want to put the wireless one away. Every time I push the power button, the green light comes on for a few seconds and the keyboard is still operational. I finally took the batteries out but that is a silly way to shut a device off.

iMac(OS9), eMacG4, MacBookIntel(OSX10.5.8), iMacIntel 21.5(OSX10.6.2), Mac OS X (10.6.2), ext.HDs - USB & Firewire

Took some trying.

Press ne time on is on, it will first go in pairing mode if not set up, or simply connect.

To turn off, press the button and the led will go on. Keep pressed until the led goes of and the keyboard is now turned off.

To pair with another device, turn on and keep the on button pressed until the led flashes green. Now you can pair it with another device, like your iphone on the go.
