Assigning outline levels in paragraph styles

I have created paragraph styles in pages 09. Some are for chapter headings, some for sub-headings, some for regular text, etc.

I want to assign each paragraph style a different level - that is, chapter headings as level 1, sub-headings level 2, regular text level 3 - so that when I view the document in Outline view, I can choose to see only the chapter headings or see the chapter headings and sub-headings together etc.

Is it possible to assign outline levels to paragraph styles and if, yes, how?

I'm having a similar problem. If I go to outline view ,select some text (of the style I'm editing) and press tab, this demotes it's outline level. You should then be able to right click your style from the style list and select 'redefine style from selection'
However when I demote my custom style by pressing tab, pages changes the style to one of the default styles (which looks like a bug to me).

Hi fruhulda, thanks for responding...yes I can see it retains the styles but the content is only viewable if 'All' levels are viewed.

I want to assign different levels to different paragraph styles - for example, if Heading 1 is level 1 and Heading 2 is level 2 and body text might be level 4, then I can choose an outline view that shows only to Level 2 (Heading 1 and Heading 2 text but no Body text). This would allow me to see the document in summary level.

It appears this must be possible because the outline view caters for up to 9 levels but how do I assign a level to a paragraph style?
