iphone4 synch problem with outlook calendar

Just a few days ago, I got a weired problem. My iphone suddenly can not synch with outlook calendar (previouly it worked fine). The contact and note can synch correctly with outlook. But iphone calendar can not update change from outlook calendar, and outlook calendar can not change from iphone calendar either. I tried everything I can think of, such as "Reset Synch History" in iTune, checking "replace calendar" box in Advanced option in iTune, reinstall iTune, etc, neither works. The most weired is that even I restored iphone to factory setting (calendar should be wipe out), but in iphone calendar still remains same as before after synch with outlook even if outlook calendar has changed.
Right now I feel devastated as this apparently simple problem becomes so hard to fix. I don't know how iphone calender is designed. But it should have option to delete everything then replaced by outlook calendar as othe phone does. Please help me if you can.

Thanks for that

(1) On the iPhone calendar app, if you click Calendars do you see that Birthdays is unchecked? (My thinking is that you want to make sure it's the Outlook birthday entries you're seeing and not the iPhone-created entries.)

Ticks are on both calendar & birthdays. And on the top it shows "hide all calendars" if i remove the tick from birthdays I get NO calendar entries

2) Am trying that now ...

Just tried syncing again & it comes up with OutlookSync Client has stopped working (ALL I want is a working iPhone with full sync features - is that too much to ask?)

Prior to this it just kept saying "preparing to sync"

In the details it states:

Google "Application Name: com.apple.Outlook.client.exe"
and you'll find threads of people running Windows 7 and Outlook with similar issues. Whether there's an answer in this modest pile of search results, I don't know, but it's a place to continue the quest.

I'm on a Vista machine and have never experienced an error with the sync process. My result was always a sync that would take a long time on calendar entries but wouldn't actually sync any of them. Our symptoms aren't the same, though the underlying cause may be. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point except to search for solutions or at least clues by googling your error message.

It's a sorry state of affairs that so many are having sync problems with calendar entries, in some cases for many months. I don't know why Apple doesn't get this fixed. It doesn't seem to like it's rocket science. We all make sizable investments in hardware/software from Apple & Microsoft and our work suffers because of problems like this.

utilajeff:

I wish I had a spare iPhone, spare computer, and spare TIME to play with this problem (well actually I wish Apple would fix it .... ;-/ ) but anyway.

I believe that there are several problems with calendar sync:

1) If a single event repeats too many times it blows things up.
I have an uncle born in 1915. His birthday got added to my calender in Outlook when I entered his birthday in his contact record. This created a repeating event that started 1915 and repeated with "no end". This single event blew up calendar sync.

2) When I first got my iPhone I started adding my repeating meetings mostly weekly stuff. I took the defaults of repeat with "no end". I had maybe 20 events in there and the calendar sync. broke. Apple suggested that my PST database was corrupt. In attempting to trouble shoot that I found that if I deleted the first 10 events it WOULD sync. .... ah-ha ... one of the last 10 events that is corrupt... well after a considerable amount of screwing around I found that it would sync. roughly 15 of my events (as I had input them). It did not matter WHICH 15 so it seems there is some "total" number of event ceiling as well.... very frustrating....

Tried option 2 no joy at all! And our issues are similar as the outlook client closed issue only occurs sometimes

Most of the time iTunes takes ages syncing the calendar and nothing gets synced but with me the birthday entries do!

Tried the same on my vista machine contacts sync so do notes but no calendar entries at all not even 1!!!

Even did another scanpst just in-case and used that new file but still no luck! If thus continues I will just be getting the htc at least android don't seem to have these petty issues. Apple needs to sort this out as we've all paid ÂŁ'00's for the equipt and for a few hours of their time they can't sort out this sync issue once and for all!

WOOHOO, it appears to work. At least for now. What I did was...
1/ Found I couldn't open iTunes on my computer, so downloaded again and selected Repair.
2/ in Outlook, I went thru all my recurring appts, deleted some unnecessary ones, and changed those which were "No end date" to 3 or 5 or 10 or whatever. I also removed the Reminder option.
3/ I synced and came up with +80 conflicts, selected resolve conflict according to Outlook. Asked to sync again and it actually synced both ways, and not just with the recurring events.
BUT unfortunately, 2 of the recurring events were doubled or tripled.

tapis23, you may get the point why outlook calendar fails to synch with iphone. For the past month, I have been successfully synch outlook calendar with iphone without failure. The reason is either iphone fixs the bug or I remove the recurring calendar events with "No end date". So recurring events with "No end date" may be the key to synch failure with iphone.

After 2 month of searching for a synch issue between my G4 iPhone and Outlook 2007 I finally got it to work! The problem was caused by a bug in a recurrent appointment. I opened the concerned contact, discarded the birth date, saved the contact and it worked. It took me half a day to find out which contact out of 3000 was causing the issue. I would suggest you give it a try by first deleting ALL recurring appointments (keep them in the deleted items folder), then try to synch. If it works, you can move half of them back to the calendar folder and try to synch again. If the corrupted appointment is back in the calendar folder the next synch attempt will fail, and you will have downsized your search by half. It might take some time to narrow down to the guilty appointment, but boy am I happy I found it! Hope this will help some of you guys. 🙂

Having been to Apple to try and resolve my synching issue and being told they can't help, I am at a loss as to what to do!

I have iphone 4 and it is updated to latest 4.3.3 software and try to synch with windows 2007, office 2010. Email works fine over the air, but calendar and contacts have to be synched through itunes directly. Also if I put a contact or meeting on my iphone when I synch through itunes it does not appear in outlook.

I have tried removing all data and setitngs from my phone, restoring from back up, deleting cookies etc.. but nothing, any help?

I just started using the Iphone 4 and hooked it into my work email system. It syncs the mail and the notes without issue, but the calendar would not sync. Every once in a while I would see a partial calendar but then it would go away again. Very frustrating!

I stumbled into this and it may help others:

Got to Settings

Mail, Contacts, Claendars

Slide down to the bottom of the mail section and verify that the Default Account is "Exchange" and not gmail or something else!

User uploaded file

Once I did that my calendar has been properly sync'ed up for several hours now!!

Suddenly, I am a very happy iPhone user!

I hope this helps!
