Trackpad / mousepad tap not working

I have a 15inch Macbook Pro with the "new" trackpad/button all in one. All ofthe sudden this evening, the button quit working and I can't tap to click. It feels like a hardware problem - anyone have suggestions for what it might be? How to fix?

To be a bit more clear: it still tracks - the cursor still moves ap
propriately according to my finger movements. But neither the "left click" nor "right click" fcns work.

Huh, why? Have you tried to do a SMC reset and then a PRAM reset? Have you checked your TrackPad Preferences to see if they're still set correctly?

Have you done any trouble shooting?

I'm not saying it's not hardware I'm simply saying you haven't provided any evidence to support why it might be.
