Iphoto will not open after upgrade to Iphoto 11

"In order to open iPhoto.app, you need to update to the latest version." What gives here? Anyone have a solution for this?

They must have just put up the patch (AKA "latest version" in the past few hours. I was getting the same message when I tried to open iPhoto last night. I checked on Software Update and there was no new version. This evening I tried again, and this time there WAS an update. iPhoto has opened, but I'm currently backing up all my pictures. At this point it should take another 26 hours, it says.

Just installed iPhoto ´11 on my imac 27 2,8Ghz i7. Also upgraded to 9.1. Totally impossible to open iPhoto! Tried "everything" but nothing solved the problem. I do have backup of all me 24.000 pics.....
Earlier this day I installed the whole iLife ´11 on my iMac at work. No problem at all.
I have now deleted the iPhoto programfile from my iMac 27 and installed the old versjon 8.0 of iPhoto(iLife 09).
Luckely everything are back on track. Besides i do like the old version much better. Better flexibility when e mailing photos, more and faster shortcuts. Can batch perform some operations. Easy to get change desktop pic.

Hi - I bought the iLife11 software 2 weeks ago. Today iPhoto demands that I search for update to enable me to open it. The other sections, garageband etc work OK at the moment. I have reinstalled the package with no improvement. I search for the Patch mentioned but not come through to my Mac yet here in UK.
I watch this discussion in the hope that Apple improve things or recall the upgrade.
Thanks
