I see questions dated 2008 on this topic, but no answers.

I have a large database with songs, one music category is Pop.
In iTunes these songs are labeled Pop and pop. (notice the case).

On my iPhone this shows as TWO different categories, but how to change these, not having to change ALL the Pop songs.
in iTuines I can sort on Genre, but the sort function is NOT case sensitive. Als o vcreating a smart play list in iTunes is NOT case sensitive.

Help! 😉

Select all Pop & pop
Edit Genre to Pop
Click OK
Only tracks whose value was pop will be updated.
Repeat for other genres, albums, artists etc. as required....

Hi Toby, yup that has been solved, in the end it was some incompatibility with the new HD I put in my HP. At some point in time Windows would go corrupt and could not reinstall.. It just happened that this was several times after installing iTunes..
after that I installed the original 40GB drive with Windows 7 and that has been running fine for several months now.

Greetings
Maarten

Ouch! That's a nasty trap. I'd have been convinced it was iTunes causing the issue (Indeed, looking back at the thread, I believe I was).

🙂 Glad things got sorted out in the end.
