Macscan Securemac tool

Has anyone used the free securemac tool successfully? Probably just being paranoid but how do I know it's not malware? Have been using facebook recently and getting a bit suspicious that my mac has picked something up.

macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Been awhile since I tried the free scan product, and don't recall anything about it.

There is an download AV tool you can get that runs free, Clam XAV, for Mac.
That can help find, isolate and remove some questionable items for you.
http://www.clamxav.com/

And there is this supposedly free (read fine print and user license renewal info)
from Sophos: http://www.sophos.com/products/free-tools/free-mac-anti-virus/

Also, there is some kind of removal tool out there for a malware that has been
found among social networking users (basically it tricks you into thinking you
need a player software to see something or another, and you install the bug)
so you should look into that aspect of what facebook & others can do for you.

This probably is something to look out for +which is newer than+ the DNS Changer:
http://macscan.securemac.com/dnschanger-trojan-removal-tool-for-mac-os-x/ or
the free item listed here http://www.dnschanger.com/

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
