I recently purchased the iPad camera connection kit for an event coming up, when I tried to use the SD card reader on my iPad, nothing happen. I then tried it out on my moms iPad running iOS 3.2 and it works fine... Anyone else having issues with iOS4.2 and the camera connection kit?
I bought the kit this mroning and tried to read SDHC card containing JPEG photos and MTS video files, yet ipad 4.2 didn't see any files. Also, I connected a USB drive and got a message of "..drawing too much power.." Maybe my expectation is too high.
You can't use the CCK for an external drive, but for your SDHC card, if your ipad is in a case, try wit it out. The card reader piece of the CCK is just wide enough to catch an edge of many cases, including the apple case, and not seat properly.
I noticed the same this morning. Some USB sticks that worked before now say drawing too much power. Some other just say there are no photos in the DCIM folder eventhouh there are. Also, my SanDisk 8-in-1 reader no longer works. I get the too much power error even with no cards in the reader.
I have same issue. When using OS3.2 I could upload video clips and Jpegs directly from an SD card providing they were in a DCIM folder. Since installing OS4.2 my iPad will only recognise photos taken directly from a camera that have not be modified in any way. Any Jpegs or video clips that I have edited and loaded on to the card are no longer recognised.
I have lots of images and clips that I used in presentations that I can no longer simply load up from a card whenever I need them. It used to work really well!
I bought Blue Yeti microphone T Apple Store to use with IPad USB camera connector. It worked great until the iOS 4.2 release broke it by lowering the power from 100ma to 20ma. Now the only way to use my expensive mic is to by a powered USB hub! I'm sure many of the other reported issues I see about camera kit no longer working are related to this change. Come on Apple fix your mistakes, do a little testing before you turn your user base into beta testers! Train your sales staff, as they told me it work just fine! Now you want to charge me a 10% restocking fee! It's your problem not mine!
Thanks for the info on the mic. I was thinking about buying one was concerned that one would not longer work after the updated based on problems with the USB sticks. A question, when did you get ht einfo regarding the 100 and 20 ma values?
Yes, according to folks at harmonicdog, the max power for any usb device on ipad is now down to 20MA from 100, which would explain why so many other devices are also failing, if true.
EDIT Supposedly a powered USB hub will make them work, if clumsily.
Has Apple in any Thread even replied at all? They would be the ones to put an end to all this immediately. While I may be missing a thread, and if I were, you all would point us there, is the lack of presence of an Apple Response.
I waited so long for a Folder/Multi tasking OS, the ONLY main reason I bought this (actually my son bought me the 64K version for Father's Day). Not being a MAC guy, I find the tie in with itunes to be cumbersome at best, I hate that I must use this for so many things. Once Folders came out and my thoughts that the SD card system would work, it made it a viable device for me, as I would love to have a handheld device, to see pictures as I take them, as so many are never available again, as in Scenery on trips and all. Too say I am bummed would be a severe understatement at this point.
While Agnostic, this is something I may pray for.....
Apple doesn't ever reply here. This is a user to user forum, and they monitor it only for things like adherence to the terms of use. It's not a place for official technical support. Very infrequently you will see someone from apple posting here (they have an apple logo by their name), but usually it's to request additional information for a problem they are troubleshooting or something like that. This isn't an official communications channel for apple.
I'm afraid it sounds like you were expecting too much from folders, if I understand your post. It doesn't let you make folders for everything. The folders feature is merely a way to organize your apps on the home screens. All you can do with it, all it was designed to do, is to let you group app icons into folders for easier organization. It's not folders everywhere throughout the ipad.
