Kernel Panic Log help.

Since updating to 10.6.5 (yesterday) I have experienced two kernel panics. Both were while streaming video on safari. I don't think any other apps were open. Can anyone help me interpret the log? Thanks in advance...

I appreciate you pointing me to these resources. Before posting I did my best to try and understand what a kernel panic is and how to get help. I have read several of these documents and others as well. Unfortunately I am not much of an advanced computer user so most of what I read makes very little sense to me.

I would appreciate it if you, or someone else, would take the time to use your expertise to provide me with more specific direction towards solving my issue. Thank you in advance.

You should have included that information in your original post. Since most KPs result from hardware problems, you should start with running the Apple Hardware Test program, extended tests, that shipped with your machine. If it passes those, then download and run Rember. If you still have issues, remove all peripherals, and repeat. After basically ruling out hardware, then test software by booting into safe mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564 Additonal steps are to reinstall the software. Once you've done most of those and haven't resolved the issue, it's time to visit a repair station or call AppleCare.

Nov 18, 2010 6:35 AM in response to ia02

Your log suggests a problem with pacesuppport
com.paceap.kext.pacesupport.snowleopard 5.7.1

I don;t know what 'pacesupport' is or does, but the least, that is where I would start.

If you locate and uninstall this software and then run and observe your OS, the KPanic may be no more.

PS. I suppose I should include the caveat, back up your OS before altering/experimenting with it.

caveat was added.

Getting rid of little snitch is no problem. The PACE software is a bit of an issue:

I found an uninstaller for the pace and have removed it. I am a bit worried though because pace appears to be installed along with other software as an anti piracy add on. I assume it is not part of OS X. I also assume it is not part of any free software as there would be no need for copy protection. I have no idea what piece of software it came along with.

Here are the non-freeware programs I have installed:

Adobe Master Suite CS4 (could possibly include pace)
AppZapper (small developer, very unlikely)
Logic Studio 9 (possibility)
Folder Brander (small developer, very unlikely)
ilife '09 (possibility)
Celemony Melodyne Editor (possibility)
MS Office 2008 (possibility)
MacTheRipper 4.0 (small developer, very unlikely)
Super Duper (small developer, very unlikely)
Toast 10 Titanium (possibility)

Is there any way to determine which of these programs installed the PACE components? Maybe an install log/receipt or something I could read through? I just want to make sure I didn't break a piece of software that I need to have.

Thanks!

Nov 18, 2010 7:50 PM in response to baltwo

I think I figured out what pace was packaged with. Inside /library/receipts is a file called "InstallHistory.plist". From what I can gather it has a record of everything that has been installed on the computer from new. I searched for "pace" and found out that a file called "com.paceap.pkg.InterLokExtensions" was installed at the same time as one of my audio unit plugins I use with Logic Studio.

After using the pace removal utility I did a finder search for everything with "pace" in the name and found nothing but a few empty folders. So, I assume all things pace have been removed. We'll see if the KP's come back.

baltwo - thanks for putting up with my newbie questions. I appreciate you, and the others who chimed in as well, spending valuable time heping me.

I'll report back in a bit either way.

Hi!
I´m having similar problems with my MBP 15"i5. Had several kernel panics i the last three weeks. Before that it worked just fined. I bought in june. Haven´t installed anything sicne then, except for mac updates. I´ve ran hardware tests, tested memoty with rambed etc.
The kernel panics keep hitting more often, today i´ve had three.
This is my crash log:

It keeps going but i think the above is what´s needed to read it?
I can´t understad the logs, but from what i´ve read on forums it´s the com.rougeamoeba.hermes 2.02 that´s causing my problems? Or am i wrong?
I´ve got airfoil by rouge amoeba installed and it´s been there since the first day.
Is this whats causing the panics?

Thank you for responding.
