Kindle App problem

Kindle app worked great so far until yesterday. My iPod Touch has WiFi on, nothing changed as far as settings, I am able to download ebooks from the Kindle store but every time I open the app it says "Sync failed, try again later". It won't sync. Nothing was changed, device is registered to my Amazon account. I'll take iBooks over Kindle App any day but I have some good books on the Kindle app which is why I want to keep it.

That doesn't fix the problem. However, I've noticed that the sync does actually still happen, it just gives an error message for some reason. The 'saved reading location' is indeed saved across devices, and new books are indeed downloaded, but for some reason there's always the error message at the end of the sync. I suppose I should be glad that the problem is now merely annoying than dysfunctional.

Assuming a complete reboot of your iPod doesn't cure the problem, you might try removing the Kindle app from the iPod and reinstalling. That often cures otherwise-recalcitrant problems.

Tried but no luck. Must be something wrong with Amazon. Anyone with an iPad here have this problem or is it an iPhone/iPod Touch specific problem? Downloading books does work but syncing...no. Oh well, thanks for the replies, as long as I'm not the only one with the problem it's okay.

I have the same problem on my 32GB iPhone 4, iOS 4.1 (8B117), Kindle for iPhone 2.3.1.

I purchased a new Kindle book today, and when trying to sync it to my iPhone the Kindle reader app persistently says "sync failed, try again later". I've rebooted the iPhone, without any change.

I already have another book downloaded I want to read, and am leaving on a trip. I'm afraid if I re-install the Kindle reader, even that book will be unavailable.

Same here since yesterday 😟 Deleting the Kindle App won't fix the problem. Even if you do delete it, once you re-install it and sign into your amazon account all your books ever purchased will be waiting for you in the "archived" folder in your main menu. You won't lose anything but I've tried it and the syncing problem is still here. Someone needs to send amazon customer support an email...

I am having the same problem with the Kindle app on my iPhone 4. Even though I get the message "Synch failed. Try again later" the sync is actaully working. I can read on my Kindle (2nd Generation) and then switch to the Kindle app on the iPhone and be on the correct page (i.e. the app picks up the last page read from my Kindle). It is just annoying to get the error message. Has anyone found a solution?

After syncing my iPhone in iTunes, I unsuccesfully re-tried the Kindle app sync -- same "try again" error.

However I just noticed at some point it downloaded to my iPhone the new book -- don't know when that happened. Sync still fails in the Kindle app, but I can at least read the new book.

I have had the same issue for several days. Tried working with Amazon to resolve the issue but still have the "sync failed" problem. I deleted and reinstalled the app on my iPad with and the problem remains.

Amazon recommended I visit the "Manage my Kindle" page on their site. They suggested I send content to the Kindle application: "Your purchases appear at the bottom of the screen. If you have a Kindle application registered, it will appear in the "Deliver to . . ." pull-down menu for eligible content."

Since I had only samples (had not yet purchased books on Kindle), only the default dictionary appears in this list. I can see that all my samples were delivered: but they are missing from my library. Re-downloading the samples from scratch placed them back in my Kindle app. But now I have two occurrences of downloading these samples.

Like others I would like to stay within the Apple/iBooks ecosystem. I have found that at present the selection is smaller and costs are typically higher -- sometimes double that of the competitor. But with the competitor's app problems, I may need to stick to crushed trees as the medium....

The issue is not answered for all situations. I don't know why anyone would choose not to have the iPhone set date and time automatically, but I considered disabling this for purposes of this test, and it made no difference at all. Amazon's routine help instructions do not seem to indicate a known problem with this, but I can't imagine having the time in this lifetime to get on the phone with them!

Are there any other thoughts or suggestions? I hate to just give up on it but honestly I have a Kindle, it's not necessary actually to have the iPhone app as well, it's just a convenience (well, was supposed to be).
