Can't delete iCal invitations off my iPhone

Help me please,

I have accepted an invitation and added it to my iCal on my Mac. When I sync using iTunes, the invite goes to my iPhone. I removed the "automatically add to iCal" from iCal settings AND Mail settings.

Now, I've declined the invitation, it deletes from my iCal on my Mac, but even after syncing, it will not remove from my iCal on my iPhone 3GS. I sync through USB, not on mobile me or any other way.

I've googled and cannot find any way to delete the info off my iPhone. I do not have an option to edit the event on my iPhone, or delete it manually. And the event no longer shows up on my Mac.

Can anyone offer assistance?

Same problem here. Frustrating! I've tried going in to iTunes and deselecting "Sync iCal Calendars". I'm given the option to remove all calendar items from my iPhone, which I do. I confirm all events are off my iPhone and re-confirm on my Mac that events I've been invited to are not in my calendar.

After re-checking the box and syncing again, these rogue events mysteriously reappear on my iPhone. Any help out there?

I had this problem with three monthly recurring invitations that I had accepted once upon a time. They kept being in my iphone calendar even though they had long since been deleted from my laptop calendar. In the end I managed to get rid of this by syncing the iphone calendar with a calendar on another laptop (at this stage the event was still there) and then syncing back with my own laptop (which magically removed the events).
I do not know if this will work in general, but I guess it is worth a try.

I have the same issue. I have a recurring invite on my iPhone4 iCal. The invite came from a corporate MS Exchange Server associated with a family members email/exchange account. The iCal event shows me as declining the event. I have no control over any part of the event, I cannot edit or delete. Has anyone been successful with Alison Ford's approach? Any other suggestions?

Found a solution.

Initial problem - Family member sent me a recurring invite. This was sent from Family Member's Echange Server Outlook account. I could see the invite on my iPhone 4, but not on iCal on my MacBook. Initial calendar was labelled 'HML'

Solution - Create second calendar called 'HML2'

Drag and drop all events you want from 'HML' to 'HML2' .

Sync iPhone (using iTunes)

Now nothing shows on iPhone

Export 'HML2' events to a file in my documents

Create another new calender called 'Michelle'

Sync iPhone (using iTunes)

Delete both 'HML' and 'HML2'

Sync iPhone (using iTunes)

You may be able to skip a few steps by exporting directly and then importing, but what I did above worked.

Feel free to contact me if you need further clarification. rich@louth.ws

I have been having varying calendar deletions issues since getting my Iphone, I use this phone for business, we don't have exchange in our office, but use Outlook, I had far to many issues with synching i.e. double appointments, deleted appointments, and just not happening appointments, that I stopped synching and now invite myself to all appointments I make, but when I delete or change one in Outlook, the deletion does not happen on the Iphone even though the email arrives and I go through the steps it is still there, when I change an appointment I get both the new and old appointments, this is sooooooo painful, that I am never 100% sure if my phone is correct, and makes it very hard to make appointments in good faith while I am on the road, this is to the point where I am about to drop the Iphone completely, solely due to these issues. I don't have time for workarounds constantly, this needs to work correctly.

I had a similar problem and found an answer. I had a recurring invite from a prior Exchange server that was no longer valid and I needed to delete on my iPad. I had been syncing via Gmail, but even Gmail online didn't show the event anymore, but it persisted on the iPad.

So, to get everything back in sync, I did the following:

1. Go to Settings on the iPad and deleted the email/calendar account

2. Re-add the email/calendar account (in this case, a Gmail account)

3. Re-synch the iPad to Gmail email and calendar.

This solved it for me and cleared out the offending event. I hope it helps others.

I too have this problem. However... the events indicate the Invitation is from "unknown". The events have two things in common. 1- I created them as standard repeating calendar events and 2- I've no idea how they changed into/became "invitations". I've never created nor accepted invitations. These do not have an Edit button like standard calendar events do, to edit/delete. Until I find a solution, and unfortunately none of those mentioned in this thread work for me, I'm stuck with them for all time and eternity...!

If anyone has any other ideas, especially how they were converted from standard events to invitations, and of course, how to delete them, please do share. Thanks!!

Log directly onto your default calendar and delete the event then restart or sync your phone. That should do the trick. For an example I have a couple different calendars that my phone is synced with. I had an invitation that showed up from "unknown" from my yahoo calendar. I logged directly onto my yahoo calendar and deleted the event. I restarted my phone and it was gone. I did all this from my phone without syncing to my computer.

I think I have a solution.

I was having the same issue. We use MS Outlook Calender Exchange at work, and we all put our appointments and invite each other to these appointments (so we know where each other are). I have my home iCal linked to my work Exchange as well. A former co-worker had an appointment in the calender. Seeing that he is no longer working with us, I wanted to remove his upcoming appointment. I removed it from Outlook, but it still appeared on my iPhone calendar as declined and would not go away. I tried to bring it back and then delete, but that still just changed it to decline and there it sat.

Finally on the iPhone I changed the 'Show as' from Busy to Free, as a last ditch effort. Wouldn't you know, I was able to delete the appointment and it disappeared off my iPhone. As I was at home, I logged onto OWA to double check that it was actually gone and it was.

Hopefully this little solution works for you.

Good luck.
