SIMS 3 for Macbook Pro

Recently bought a Macbook Pro and I'm disappointed coz I can't use it to play Sims 3. One of the requirements to play is the Nvidia Geforce series: 7300, 7600, 8600, 8800, 9400M, etc. My Mac's 320M...boo!!! =( Is there a Sims 3 version for the 320M Geforce?

Thanks!

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Hi P, and welcome to Apple Discussions.

The 320M in your MBP is actually a newer design than 7/8/9 series you mention, but it is an integrated model which shares system RAM. As such, as you've discovered, it's not a prime gamer's GPU. Can Sims 3 run in lower resolution? You may want to check out the Sims website for further/more detailed information. Good luck.

Just out of interest which Macbook pro is it that you have been trying to play Sims 3 on ? I have a 15" and was thinking of getting Sims 3 but I wont bother if it doesn't work. If you don't have enough juice for the graphics do you know if you can you get an upgrade like you can on a PC?

I have a MacBook Pro with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 M, and I play the Sims 3 on it. It isn't a graphics card listed in their compatible ones, but it works just fine. If you need to, play around with the resolution settings. I can't remember if I did or not. The MacBook Pro plays the Sims 3 very well though, and the graphics look really good with my card, which is quite similar to yours. I'm sure yours will work too.

Hi, I'm planning to buy a Macbook Pro 15-inch 2.4ghz, intel core i5, with gt330m. OS is snow leopard. I was wondering whether it's capable of playing the sims 3 plus all the expansions with no trouble? With full setting? will the graphic card become over heated and explode? 🙂 Or should I wait for sandybridge to come out, but I don't know whether the new chip will make a difference to running the game. Would appreciate it if you can answer my questions, thanks. ^_^

Not sure if this topic is dead or whether I can revive it, or whether i'm just better off starting a whole new topic.

About a year ago i bought sims 3 for pc.. played it, but now i recently ( a week ago) bought the latest macbook pro. I installed the game, yet everytime i try to load a household (after having already loaded the neighbourhood and created a family) it suddenly freezes. Should i find a fix for this or is there something wrong with my hardware? I am aware of the fact that integrated graphic cards are not good for gaming.. but since the game is relatively old to the erm.. "newness" of the card i thought that it should work, at least on lowest settings...

Can someone help me?

Hey! I have the exact same problem as you're having so I was hoping that you had an answer by now? I bought the new MBP and was less then satisfied at the new graphics card that they put in, because my favorite game TS3 wasn't compatible with it. Do you know if EA games is making an update or are us MBP users **** out of luck? A reply would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure if it's " not compatible ". Even on intel's website it states that the sims 3 should work with this graphics card and so for me it does.. It definitely states that it should be working with the expansion packs such as ambitions. Maybe that's an option if you can like borrow it from someone to try, before buying it.

Hi Melodina,

Could you post your exact settings of your TS3's screen size and screen refresh rate? And also for the check boxes (whether checked or unchecked), and the High Detail Lots (what number/level) because it seems that it still freezes when I choose a household.

And lastly, what is your current version of TS3?

Many thanks!

Hi i had the exact same problem and it took me all day to work out. is all you have to do is update the actual game. when the sims game launcher comes up is all you have to do is go to the game updates (I had tried changing all the settings with no luck and even closing down most other programs running to see if it was the actual performance of the comp it wasn't.) you need to be connected to the internet it takes about 2 hours but it does work mine was doing the exact same as soon as I went into play the game after creating my sim and then choosing where to live it would just totally freeze and i would have no other choice but to push the power button to close it down. If when you do update it it stops after a couple of min just try again later mine stopped a few times before it decided to go through. Hope this helps a lot of people have had the same trouble. and the sims3 looks great on the macbook pro all the ones who are worried don't be it's fine ! 🙂
