Networking an Apple IIc

Has anyone networked an Apple II to their current network? Is it EVEN possible?

I have my first computer, an Apple IIc and was wondering if I could get it and either my iMac G5 (Leopard) or my iMac G4 (Tiger) to "talk". The IIc runs ProDOS 8.
I also have a IIGS CPU, but no display, or keyboard and mouse for it.

Active: iMac (G5, G4), PB G4, iPad, iPhone, iPod, MP2100 Retired: iMac G3, A2c, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Mac OS 10.4.11, Mac OS 9.2.2, iOS 4.0/3.2, Newton OS 2.1

Hi Romad,

Long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away I networked a number of Apple IIc's and IIgs's...but that was an AppleTalk network and not ethernet. It was fairly simple to do, and designated one as the primary in the network.

Connecting to a modern network is going to be the problem because of switching protocols. Current versions of the Mac OS do not even support AppleTalk anymore.

My PM 7600 running OS 9.1 plays nice but I have not attempted to get anything from the Apple II era to discuss life issues with the other kids on the block.

Cross-posted from the original topic...

There are plenty of ways to network an Apple II. Most require an Ethernet card, or an older Mac capable of AppleTalk, as Ralph suggested. But even with just a serial connection, you can still set up the Apple II as a dumb terminal capable of issuing commands to OS X, or use ADTPro to transfer disk images.

You can even run a VNC client on the Apple II, should you wish to run Safari on it. *8^)
