Wireless router Netgear WGR614 – MacBook Pro no connection possible

I am not able to connect to a wireless network created by a Netgear WGR614 v 6 with my McBook Pro and my iPad. This problems occurs when I use no data encryption as well as WPA-PSK encryption. In each case the name of wireless network is showed, but a connection to the network is impossible.
In contrast I have no problems to join to this wireless network with my Powerbook G4. Is the Netgear WGR614 router not compatible with the recent Apple devices?

McBook Pro 5.1, Mac OS X (10.6.5)

I'm having similar issues. Plugging in direct to the router is fine. But trying wireless, ALL Apple devices fail to work. I can sometimes start to get going and pull up a web page, then it dies. All network settings look fine (and I do a TON of networking - I know my DHCP and TCP/IP settings inside out -- I've even written networking apps for iPhone, so I'm not a noob. grin).

I'll also note that a Windows laptop connects wireless just fine. But 2 different MacBooks (one a white, one a Pro), iphone and iPad all refuse to connect wirelessly. And again, we DO get assigned DHCP stuff (get an IP etc.) and it starts to want to work, then dies.

All same issues... intermitten, dropped connections on my MBP when on wireless, perfect wired or wireless with PCs.

Fought this for weeks, finally stumbled across a solution (so far, so good).

In your Netgear's router settings under wireless, switch the broadcast channel from the default "11" to channel "8" (perhaps others work too, but 8 is infrequently used).

Viola. Things are working like you would expect them to!
