Disney Vacation video - help needed

Hi all. I am still fairly new to using iMovie but have found it very easy to use. I have imported a a load of video from our trips to Disney and would love to add in some Disney Themed transitions. or a theme if there was one. My idea is the start would be the Disney castle sequence you see at the start of all disney movies before it goes into my own camera work and maybe a park picture transition as we cut from one parks footage to another. Is there anything I can download to use or any suggestions? I saw a podcast someone had put on itunes and they had subtitles roll over the footage in the disney style text, that would be cool. Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks John

So far (iMovie 08, 09, 11) Apple has not allowed third party transitions or themes.

If you had Final Cut Studio, it includes Motion so you can build your own motion graphics. It takes some time to learn, and requires a great deal of knowledge and skill. (More than I have).

I bought a motion graphics package as part of a MacHeist Bundle several years ago, but I have not played with it much. It let's you do some motion graphics. It is called [Kinemac.|http://www.kinemac.com/gallery/index.html] With a tool like this, you would create your graphics. Then export them as Apple Intermediate Codec. Then import them into iMovie for use there.

as Appleman already stated - the actual iM11 doesn't support installation of 3rd party plugins, themes etc (give Apple an 'enhancement request' here http://www.apple.com/feedback/imovie.html … iM's Big Brother FCPX allows plugins ... looking forward to iM13 😉 )

but ....

a 'theme' is nothing more than some 'ready mades' - why not made 'em your own?

a few suggestions:

Disney Style Title

sites as dafont.com etc offer 'tons' of Disney style fonts.

at http://www.fontspace.com/category/disney

I found for example a font called 'Walter'.

install that font, apply any title in iM and in the Title Options,

select System Fonts:

apply outline, drop shadow, color, size … you like.

Disney Style From-here-to-there

get a picture of the park's map

(prepare pic e.g. in Preview.app by applying text "next day", "hours later", "fuuuun!" etc etc)

drag jpg into your iM Project

use the Ken Burns to demo 'from here to there'

Disney Style Transition

… ok, this is more a kind of 'dirty trick'.

Look, two clips, a transitions. Aaaand …

… a bit of Disney-like fairy dust:

in the list of Titles, there's one Fairy Dust.

I applied that to the very end of clip#1

dragged it across the transition

and titled " "

(=nix, nada, zil)

so, I do have some nice glitter across my transition!

Disney Style Subs

Finally, the famous 'transparent png'-trick allows creation of your very own styled 'titles (=pic-in-pic)

trick is described e.g. on my website

(not really beautiful, but meant just as an illustration of options)

one LEGAL advice:

be careful with publishing other people's intellectual property!

(as I do here … 😉 )

e.g. you can grab that 'Disney Castle' opener and apply to your own project.

but I wouldn't publish the result to the world on YouTube etc.

a flock of Disney advocats can start to chase you … 😁

What you show your family in your house hasn't to care anybody.

My 'hint' is just about 'publishing'.

Happy Movie Making!
