Educational tools

I would like to know if there is something like a pen and pad that I can use in conjunction with a program to type my notes straight onto my PowerBook during lessons and a pad to type/draw straight in equations, pics, trig and stuff!! Straight on to the same document. And add to pre course or manual work books??
What's out there?
