Apr 15, 2013 9:31 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby jtokar10,I have the same problem everyone else has: my phone shut off unexpectedly with a full charge and will not turn back on. I have read through this entire feed and have tried literally everything that has been mentioned. The only problem is that my power button is broken, so I can not use the most common method. Is there anything else I can do?

Apr 18, 2013 3:26 PM in response to MLovellby mjaybeech,Something similar happened to me today, my phone (already on low battery) randomly started vibrating with a blank screen. Everything I did to try and make the screen turn on failed, I couldn't turn it off, holding the power button did nothing. Eventually (after about 10 minutes) it stopped, I can only assume that the battery died.
The problem was that after this I couldn't get the phone to turn back on!
I tried plugging it in, holding power + home. Connecting it to iTunes, absolutely nothing worked. I spent the entirety of the night trying to figure out how to get it to turn on again, until I decided to give the connector port on the phone a blow. After this I plugged it in and the red low battery sign popped up and it began charging again.
So, if the power + home solution isn't working for you, try giving your connector port a clean and plug it in again.
Hope this helps!

Apr 27, 2013 1:14 AM in response to Lawrence Finchby swalks ,So I've read through this feed and I think my iphone 4S is having a similar battery problem. When I connect it to an outlet, it turns on but says "searching" and immediately shuts off if I unplug it. When connected to the computer, the apple symbol blinks every few seconds but iTunes does not recognize the device and it will not turn on. I tried the home + sleep and got nothing. I tried every variation as well.
Seems to me from the replies here, the battery must be bad although I've only had the phone a few months. I saw some people talking about taking it to an independent store to replace the battery instead of an Apple store, what does this mean? What kind of store am I looking for?

Apr 27, 2013 4:25 AM in response to swalksby DeeTom,I have an iPhone 4 with the same problem. Replaced the battery on suggestions here, but there is no change. You can try the battery change but I somehow doubt it'll work.
Have you tried getting help from an Apple store? I am not in a position to do that but would love to know what is the official verdict on this.

Apr 27, 2013 6:58 AM in response to swalksby Lawrence Finch,If it is still in warranty (you can check here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do) Apple will replace the battery free. If it is not in warranty they will replace it for $79. But they will also test it first, to make sure the problem IS the battery.

Apr 27, 2013 12:51 PM in response to DeeTomby swalks ,Well my question was asking where I could get a battery for less than the $79 since I didn't want to have to take it to the Apple store. I guess that's my only viable option here, but I am NOT paying so much money if it doesn't work. For goodness' sake, I only paid $100 for the phone after rebate.

Apr 29, 2013 10:16 PM in response to MLovellby swalks ,Update: I took my phone into the Apple store. After much scrutinization, they discovered a screw had come loose inside and was interfering with the battery. Once they determined the phone hadn't been damaged due to negligence on my part, it probably was though since I've dropped it a few times in its otterbox case, they fixed it for free. So far, it has been working perfectly.

May 1, 2013 7:55 AM in response to MLovellby qdee77,My 4S kept turning off by itself if it is not plugged in also. Everytime I unplugged the phone, it will turned off. So I just kept pressing the power + home buttons several times until it finally came on. Go to the setting screen then select general. On the bottom, select reset, and press reset all settings. After I done that, the phone hasn't turned off since.
I do think that it's the iO6 software issue because the phone was working fine up until then.
