I cannot open app store or iTunes on my ipad

Since the day before yesterday I haven't been able to access the app store. I thought maybe I did something to my iPad, I'm a download junkie. I restarted, did a sync with my gateway laptop. I was able to get iTunes store on my laptop just fine, but that doesn't help when you need more juju beans for trade nations. I even reset the iPad. Then I checked my husbands iPad and he can't access iTunes either and he hasn't put anything new in his iPad. So I don't think the problem is our machines. Is the app store down in the southwest? Is it down in preparation for the new op system?
