Vault not recognized

I updated my aperture vault on 11-10-2010 and then moved the vault from one external drive to another. When I tried to change the vault path it gave me the message "not a valid vault file".
Fixed permissions and repaired database, but still doen't recognize vault.
Any suggestions besides throwing old vault away and starting over.

macbook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.3), Aperture 3.1

Afraid you can not just copy a vault from one drive to another, there is some logic here as well. You Keep your original vault and create a new on e on your new drive.
