iPhoto crashes when trying to create calendar

Anyone seen a solution to this yet? Everytime I create a new Calendar project (which takes forever to even do that), if I click on Photos or Design in the bottom right corner, I get the spinning rainbow and finally crashes. Is there a solution? If not, can I go back to iPhoto '09???

I've got 14,000 photos, maybe that's too big for Apple?

If I remember rightly, iPhoto should work on 20 - 25,000 photos, so 14,000 should be OK. Unless that is you are selecting them all to make your calendar? Make your choices, then click on the icon. If that still crashing, you might try some maintenance, including trashing the .plist file (in the preferences folder, in Library). Do back up your data before trying any such process.

Who's "they"?

Before you assert that someone has "truly ruined iPhoto" you'll need to explain why pther people don't have thos problem. Because if you can't, then you're looking at an issue local to your system. And given that, if you want help you'll need to supply some details - basic things like the version of iPhoto and the OS you're using.

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:

1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your

User/Home(User uploaded file)/Library/ Preferences folder.

2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your

User/Home(User uploaded file)/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

User uploaded file

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.

NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
