4.2 Cannot find printer

Question

4.2 Cannot find printer

I am trying to print with 4.2 and when I try and select a printer it says "Printer not found".

I have a printer that is wirelessly connected to my router and works fine with my laptop.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Same problem.
It's a HP Officejet 6500 wireless.

Same here. It is connected to the router via ethernet.

Most printer will not do both, wireless and ethernet to router. I did not find any settings to manually enter the IP address of the network printer too. So it is either wireless radio on or nothing.

Looks like we all have to go out and buy new printers....... NOT good, why did apple not make it work with wifi enabled printers ?..

I have a gut feeling an app will pop out today that will support various printers. It would make sense.

Looks like it only works with HP ePrint enabled printers:

There are already such apps I believe. I have printed wirelessly to my Epson using "Epson iPrint" app, but its only for photos. I dont think a 3rd party app will be allowed to print from any safari page, email, etc directly from the source though.

I have the HP Wireless B110 which is on Apple's list.

*It does not work.*

"Can not find printer".

The printer works perfectly with my other devices (MacBook Pro + Mac Pro).

I dont see any reason why Apple could not have done this right from the start.--execpt one maybe: exclusivity deal with HP. I mean really, there is no other excuse. Apple programers cant be that lame that they couldnt have got this working correctly.

Looks like printopia only works with a mac. Since I have a pc I am out of luck.

I found an application in the app store for Brother printers. Of course my Brother wireless printer is not supported.

I read that it worked with any printer in the iOS 4.2 betas, but there was some (patent?) issue that prevented it from being in the final release. No idea whether that is true though.

However, as Printopia works well without changes to iOS, there's obviously support in iOS for any printer.
