Anyone try AirPlay with their iPod Touch G4 & Apple TV yet ?

Just updated iOS 4.2.1 no my 2nd gen iTouch NO AIRPLAY! can't access my songs! Doing a re-install of the iOS, CRAP!

Same problem with my 3rd generation iPod Touch—no AirPlay.

My 3rd generation iPod Touch also has no AirPlay. I've got an Airport Extreme 804.11b/g that works fine with AirTunes streaming from my Macs, but my iPod either doesn't see it or just doesn't have AirPlay.

I upgrade too, but I don't find AirPlay support for iPod Touch 2G.

Songs work great have not tried a video yet though. Wondering how long before the Airplay Speakers come on the market

What is AirPlay and how it works

The idea behind AirPlay is "pushing" content from an iOS device to your Apple TV, so you can watch on the big screen. It's designed to work with music, photos, and videos, although the video functionality is limited for now.

"Pushing" content to an Apple TV couldn't get much easier. You'll need an Apple TV with the latest software update and an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad running the new iOS 4.2 software, and they both need to be on the same home network.

Start playing back a media file, such as a song stored on your iPod, and next to the volume slider will be a "push" icon, which looks like a box and an arrow pointed up. You'll see another screen that let's you select your Apple TV and once you hit that, the content playback on your TV.

That's it. There's a very slight lag before it starts playing on your Apple TV, but otherwise it works exactly how you'd expect.

PS. Don't forget to update the software on your Apple TV

This is all great, but I've been unable to get my iPod Touch 3G to see my Airport Express. It pops up in iTunes on our Macs, but the "push" button doesn't appear when playing music on my iPod.

Any ideas?

I did the upgrade of my Ipod Touch 2 gen, my Ipod touch 4 gen and my apple TV 2 gen. All is working perfectly.

So you are seeing Airplay on your second generation iPod touch, right?

I updated my iPod Touch 2G with iOS 4.2 as well, and I have no AirPlay. There is also no "text search" in Safari. I verified the version in the about area in Settings, and it says I'm running 4.2. What gives???

AirPlay works with ATV2 on my 2G Touch running 4.2.1. Make sure your devices are on the same network, and you have to have Home Sharing enabled on all devices. You may need to Reset or Restore your Touch if you're still not seeing it.

In my case, music works great, but VIDEO DOES NOT show.

My system is an iPod Touch (pre-Retinal) with requisite 4.2 upgrade and ATV2 with latest upgrade there as well (4.1, I think it is).

Connects, says it is playing video on the ATV, then shows an error message of "Can not play on ATV" or "Can not play on (null)".

Again, connects and works with music, so that is great. Started, restarted, repeatedly, same thing.

Also, upgrade appears to have broken Pandora so I can't test that, it doesn't run at all any more.

I have two iPod Touch 2nd generation.

Both have Airplay and work just fine streaming my iTunes Music to any of my 3 Airport Express units that are hooked up to 3 different stereos.

When I click on the Airplay button, I have a choice of the 3 Airport Express units or the iPod Touch itself giving me 4 choices.
