NBA League Pass and ATV

If you have apple tv and have NBA league pass broadband, which gives you the luxury of viewing NBA games on your computer, will you be able to use ATV to stream the games on your television?

Also, I know of the airplay feature and the NBA mobile app, which will allow you to watch games on your iPhone...what will the quality of such games being "Airplayed" to your tv via ATV be?

Thanks

I signed up for the International League Pass because it has a free trial through January 9. However the lack of Apple TV support in the UK will likely stop me subscribing permanently once the free pass ends. Seriously, I want to watch the games on a big screen and Airplay is not exactly convenient because I can't do anything else on my device while it is playing.

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to re-iterate that the first 2 weeks of League Pass are free on all domestic (US) cable providers, so if you're having issues with the streaming, just go to the actual NBA League Pass (full price) channel and you should be fine. This is only a short term solution but allows for you to watch games while they iron out the kinks.

To recap:

- The AppleTV app works but is marginal in quality (with no other advices needed, no airplay). I tried to watch and had regular buffering issues throughout.

- The GameTime app for iPad and iPhone seems great, but crashes regularly. On top of that, sending a signal from the iPhone or iPad to the AppleT via Airplay is dodgy in quality. Lots of thick pixelation and lots of buffering for me (on a quality connection).

- Seems like the best idea is just straight-up purchasing from your provider and picking the best of three options on a nightly basis depending on your circumstance (TV, Broadband, Mobile).

Hope that helps.

p.s. for Direct TV the NBA League Pass channels are right around 750 and up.

Yeah, it does not seem to bookmark your location in the stream and resets if you exit, that's horrible. Furthermore, the game stream is not even available until the second the ball is tipped off, there is no pregame material, and no countdown to know when the game will actually start, you have to keep refreshing the game list until it becomes available. There also appears to be no advanced navigation available. For example, in the MLB ATV app, if you press the down button once, you can shuttle back and forth, and there are segments marked for the start of each half inning you can quickly jump to. Press down again, and you get marked segments of significant events int the game, such as close plays, scoring plays, etc, which are even available as the game is live. The NBA app is very barebones by comparison, poorly thought out, and the stream quality and reliability are not good.
