well worth updating - my 3g is back faster than ever and can use again

I am installing it right now. I hope it works well on my phone. I reinstalled 3.1.3 after running 4.1 for a little while, because it became slower and slower.

So far so good on my iPhone 3G. Like the poster above I think it's on par with 3.1.3. Hoping it doesn't slow down as time goes by!
I dont thinks its par with 3.2.2, because it has its draw backs. the type animation in txt is sub par, dont mistake a page springing up faster and still loads slow as a speed increase. give this a try start the ipod, and go to safari and load a web page then have some one send you a text. then click reply, mines crashed every time.
Quick seamless update for me, roughly 15 minutes.
If you didn't have problems running 4.1, then you won't notice any difference with 4.2.1.
4.2.1 might ask you to re-enter your voicemail password, but that's the only change i've noticed.

Can I ask you to expand your 'faster than ever'.
1. How is the calendar app? Laggy when loading? As fast as on 3.x?
2. The camera?
Did 4.0/.1 cause you slow downs previously or were you one of the lucky few!?

I suffered all updates with everything being so so slow, everything is so much faster now. i love apple products but was cheesed off with the updates, was going to bin the 3g and get the 4 now its sweet again.
The calendar is faster than before syncing with kerio mail server, the apps are so much better - the lag before the update was unusable with everything '(couldnt even use safari)

People reported the same thing immediately after installing previous updates. We on;t know if it is real until a week goes by.
I'm over two hours into it and its still only completer about 10% of the backing up process. Coming from 3.1.3. Anyone know how long it might take? At this rate I'm going to have to abandon it until the weekend.
stick with the update buddy, it will seem like nothing is happening but just leave it and it will install.
might take 3/4hrs mine did, just chill, its worth the pain (trust me)

Thanks for that... specifically the Calendar... is there that annoying load, show the events, blank screen, then refresh? That took forever before!
Also, you couldn't go to List view when loading the app but had to go to day/month and then back to make it register the view!?!?
Any improvements. Sorry to treat you as a Genius but I'm fed up with the upgrade and downgrade cycle and want to preempt any niggle before clicking 'Update'

Same speed as before and I still have to pay £59 a year to find my phone if i lose it.
I received an update today and then my iTunes said "no content;" it appeared to be erased! Then I hooked it up to my Mac and on iTunes it indicates that all my content is there. I can't figure out what happened.
